The Arts Society provides children and young people with exciting opportunities to get involved in creative arts activities. Our work with young people builds a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and an awareness of arts heritage and its conservation.
Young Arts opportunities are organised by individual Societies. Some Societies have on-going Young Arts Groups while others fund one-off Young Arts Projects, which can range from running arts awards to funding artists in residence in primary schools.
Projects
In April 2024, we applied for and obtained a grant of £250 from the Arts Society Headquarters and offered it to the Windsor Girls School Arts Department. This was used for a ceramics project for the new Year 9 intake of pupils. We also sponsored six A-level students of the school, who submitted entries into the national Arts Society A-level Arts competition 2024-25.
In February 2022, we applied for and obtained a grant of £250 from the Arts Society Headquarters and offered it to the Textile Department of the Buckingham New University. This was used for a one day arts lecture by an external art lecturer.
In May-June 2018 we worked with St. Nicolas' First School in Taplow, by helping them to buy art and craft materials. On Wednesday June 13th at 1.30, our Young Arts Representative, Sheila Seales, arranged a visit to see the fruits of our work.
In October and November 2017 we supported Eton Porny First School in their project "Only One You" - a whole-school initiative in which each child has designed and painted a pebble to represent him or herself. The school started their project on Wednesday October 18th and a group of our members went along to see them at work. The children were very enthusiastic and eager to tell us about their painting. We welcomed four of the pupils and their head teacher, Katherine Russeill, to our November 2017 meeting when we were able to hand over the cheque.
