Message on behalf of TASWE Committee

Dear members,

Today we had our very first Online Art Lecture given over Zoom by Ian Swankie, on "London Street Art - from Bronzes to Banksy”, an event that we jointly sponsored with the Afternoon Society.

The lecture content was excellent and the technology worked well, with many attendees feeling that both the images and the sound were better than in our Memorial Hall!   We hope that following the lecture, some time in the future, we will be able to arrange a London tour with Ian, to see these treasures in real life.

Following this trial lecture, we are discussing the possibility of running some more Zoom lectures over summer, to replace the four lectures that had to be cancelled due to the lockdown. More details to follow.

Meanwhile, the Headquarters continue with their programme of online lecture under the banner “ Lectures at Home”

This month’s lecture, given by Rebecca Hossack on "Aboriginal Art - recording the Dreamtime” is available to view at:

We hope you enjoy it.

With best wishes,

Michaela Howard

The Enigma of Théodore Chassériau

On 15th January, our Speaker, Dr Kathy McLauchlan, will be talking to us about Théodore Chassériau, one of the more fascinating painters of the Romantic Era, who specialised mainly in clothed and unclothed mythical figures.

Paul Atterbury Returns!

Paul Atterbury, of Antiques Roadshow fame, visited us in April 2019. We enjoyed his lecture so much, we have invited him back to give us a Study Day, which we have entitled "Days Gone By", in which Paul will entertain us again with stories and illustrations from his world of antiques, designs and interests, including an appraisal "Show and Tell" session in the afternoon.

The lecture, entitled

Attracting New Members

The Society is in the process of widening its appeal and attractiveness, and a number of new initiatives have been implemented. Foremost amongst these is a campaign to recruit more members to the Society.

Our latest brochure, including a voucher to attend a first lecture free of charge, was published in June 2018

http://taswindsorevening.org.uk/DocumentStore/trifold%20publicity%20brochure%20v1.1%20jun%2018.pdf

The Evening Society was set up in 2004 to provide the opportunity for those otherwise occupied in the daytime to become involved with the activities of the Society, especially where we are trying to extend appreciation of the arts and art heritage.

New members and visitors are always welcome.
